5 minutes with… Emma Westwood
What makes Carpenter Box Financial Advisers (CBFA) stand out from the rest is our people and their commitment to having great relationships with their clients, and with their colleagues.
In our ‘Five minutes with…’ series we meet some of the great team at Carpenter Box Financial Advisers. We posed various sets of questions to people across our firm to provide a glimpse into their lives and perspectives.
We take some time out this week to meet Operations Manager, Emma Westwood!
Tell us about yourself
I’m Emma Westwood, Operations Manager. I am Sussex born and raised and now live in Worthing with my two teenage girls. I love living by the sea, and so close to the downs. I have worked in Financial / Operational management roles for some 25 plus years now, 6 of those within Financial Services. I also worked in a primary school as a teaching assistant when my children were young, which I really thoroughly enjoyed and sometimes still miss working term time only! I joined Carpenter Box Financial Advisers in 2016 and have enjoyed being part of a growing team with some amazing individuals.
Who inspires you and why?
J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter novels. From being a single Mum with many struggles, to becoming a famous writer and inspiring many young girls by creating strong female characters in her books. She started off with nothing and could probably never have dreamed she would achieve so much in such a short space of time.
What key skills are required to undertake your role?
Organisation and a good memory (or at least enough to remember where my huge book of notes are!).
What do you value most about working at Carpenter Box Financial Advisers?
When I joined in 2016 we were a small team of 8 and have since doubled in size. I really value all of our team members, you couldn’t meet a more unique set of characters who all work really well together as a team. The firm has a Charitable Foundation and recently I joined in with some other colleagues on a beach clean. A number of charities close to my heart have been supported by the Foundation, who have sponsored my daughters football team, along with helping some excellent local community charities.
Outside of work, what keeps you busy?
I enjoy meeting with friends and family, something I think we are all a lot more appreciative of now! The majority of my time is spent with my youngest daughter who plays for Worthing Town FC. I am not a football supporter but have really enjoyed seeing them develop into a really great team. I’m not so keen on this in the wet, cold winter months though and would rather be at home watching Netflix (let’s hope she doesn’t read this)!
