Financial Update – August 2021

Welcome to your monthly newsletter.

August is upon us. The month that sees out the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 – a name that may not be technically correct, but one that we’re all happy to let slide. After all, it makes it feel like we’ve not lost too much time in the last 2 years! We’ve been treated to some fantastic displays of skill and athleticism, but also brave and commendable actions shining a light on the mental health of athletes with Simone Biles’ decision to withdraw. It’s a lesson that can be applied to all occupations and walks of life; a reminder for us all to take stock of our priorities during challenging times.

Augusts of years past have been equally eventful. Serving as another reminder of the importance of recognising when you need support, in 1965 The Beatles released their album “Help!” in the UK. Not the only historic album to be released in the 8th month of the calendar, Bruce Springsteen continues our Olympic theme with the release of his 1975 classic “Born to Run”. It appears that August is a month where records are not only broken, but also recorded. In 1955, the first edition of the Guinness Book of World Records was published.

This month, take some inspiration from the tenacity and commitment of the competitors of the Olympics. Win or lose, to put yourself in the running is an achievement to be celebrated. Likewise, so is taking yourself out, should it be the right decision for your wellness at that time.

As always, if you have any concerns or questions we’re here and happy to help, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of our team.
